First aid, security, and emergency protocol:
There is a fully stocked first aid kit located in the kitchen (directly behind the main room) and one of our team members is first aid/CPR certified. There is a fire extinguisher located in the events space, and there are two double door exits located at the front of the room, as well as a side exit that leads directly to the front gate.
We have a water sprinkler system that runs through out the building and in all the bedrooms.
We have a fire alarm that is checked regularly.
If you hear the alarm, evacuate the building immediately. Do not reenter the building until you are given permission by the fire department or landlord.
Do not ignore the fire alarm, treat it as an emergency every time.
Each floor has a map on the wall so that you can see what the layout of the building looks like.
We have fire escapes on both the front and the back of the building. To get to the front fire escape, go through Friends, or Poster room on the first floor, or through Golden Gate, Skylight or Peace Room on the second floor.
Please take a second to make sure that you know how to get to the fire escape, and where to find both sets of stairs up and down the building <3
Do not activate the fire alarm at the manual alarm box unless you see smoke or fire. False alarms may cause the residents to begin ignoring the fire alarm and they force the fire department to treat them as an emergency.
Be aware of where the stairs are to leave your floor. You may have to get to another staircase if the one closest to you is blocked.
Before opening your apartment door, feel it with the back of your hand to check if the hallway is safe. If the door feels hot, use another exit.
Fire extinguishers are located at the entry to the kitchen, at the top and bottom of the third floor stairs, and outside the Flower Child room (back of the second floor) and Infinity bathroom (back of the third floor). Fire alarms are located at the bottom and top of the third floor stairs.
The building has both an audible alarm as well as a sprinkler system triggered automatically by high heat.
